Into the Woods

What is the very first fairy tale that you remember? Was it sweet and filled with promises, glass slippers and magical kisses? Or did it involve dark woods, wandering alone... dropping desperate breadcrumbs?   I adore all types of tales but the dark ones were the first to draw me in, the the little girl in the flashy red cape.

A few of my favorite red caps to take you into the woods....

Beautiful Art!!!! My first fairytae that I remember was Little Red Riding Hood as a matter of fact. That is the first one I can remember. Maybe that is why I love the color read so much. Mine was a scarey one definatly.

Marisa, I found out yesterday while looking for these images! maybe I should include that info here too!

Heather, She is the first I remember too, although I had a strong fondness for Pooh and Peter Rabbit, there was something primal about Little Red that drew me in.

These are lovely! I think the first one I remember is Snow White - having seen the movie when I was little and then reading the Little Golden Book. :) Theresa

Oh Theresa, Snow is my favorite! I didn't see that movie for many years though and Little Red must of been read to me!

Thanks for including my Red here :) Little Red Riding Hood was my daughter's very favorite story. We made plays and puppet shows and way too many red capes to count for all her assorted stuffed animals. She especailly liked pretending to be the wolf. She always did go for the bad guys in stories, hope that doesn't carry over into her real life :0

These are just beautiful. I have to say I loved the dark ones too even as a child. My mother bought me the most beautifully illustrated book of old fashioned fairy tales that I still have. One of my favorites was The Little Match Girl and of course Hansel and Gretel.

Thank you so much for featuring my shadow puppet! It is such honour :-)

By the way I really like your series of moon girls. Even though it is work in progress it already looks stunning.
