"Everything I Needed to Know"

"Everything I Needed Know I Learned from Mary Poppins"

Is she coming in for a soft landing or making a graceful exit?

This mixed media piece will be in an exhibit next week in St. Augustine. The theme for the show is spring but little girls in coats kept floating in my mind! Floating and flying, I was fascinated with the idea of flying as a little girl. I'm quite sure I took some leaps with an umbrella with high hopes and air underfoot! I'm relieved I was able to complete her in time for the show, I have two other shows the same day so I'm hard pressed for time. One is for my students, the big county public school show. The other, I have a booth at the Historic Hibernia Arts Festival which thankfully is very close to home!

Wow, you sound incredibly busy with all those shows. A show in St. Augustine sounds enchanting. It is one of my favorite cities in FL. I love how the girl really stands out with that lovely red coat. Your work is a joy to look at.

She is fabulous! I just came across an UK fashion magazine that has a section on how to dress like Mary Poppins! Seriously! I tore that page out-it even had makeup suggestions! Will have to do a post on it-umbrellas and coats are the in thing!

She's lovely and quite spring-like to my Northern eyes. This is the time of year girls run around in little coats and hats like that up here. Quite appropriate.

Thank you guys!

I'm the same way, I adore mixed media but it takes quite a bit of set up and good block of time (that is scarce!)

Rowan that is so funny about the fashion magazine! I should read those for inspiration... I love to draw pretty dress and coats but I don't get to wear them to often ;)

I'll keep my eye out for your post!

She is adorable and it brings back lots of memories of me wearing my little coats and Mary Jane shoes.

Your mixed media is wonderful!
